About the Master Plan

Thrissur is one of Kerala’s rapidly growing urban centres, with a unique cultural identity and a distinctive city form centred around the Vadakkumnathan Temple. Rapid changes in population, land use, infrastructure and urban development have created the need for a comprehensive and forward-looking Master Plan.

The Master Plan provides a strategic framework for the planned, sustainable and inclusive development of Thrissur City. It aims to guide future land use and infrastructure development while strengthening mobility, public amenities, commercial activities and tourism.

With a focus on better connectivity, traffic and parking management, improved civic facilities, urban beautification, and effective waste management, the Master Plan seeks to balance growth with environmental and cultural considerations and create a more resilient, vibrant and liveable Thrissur for future generations.
